New triple boom system from Tadano

Conventional boom suspension systems are complex and expensive. Recognizing these disadvantages, Tadano reports it will be introducing a new eight-axle all-terrain crane in 2015 that does away wtih the boom suspension system. The company will roll out its Triple-Boom System on the new crane model, which will be introduced in June.

Project manager Andreas Hofmann and his development team were challenged with developing a concept that would remove the flaws of a traditional boom suspension system, They decided to drop that idea completely and go back to the drawing board.

The team developed the Triple-Boom System, a new kind of telescoping boom that requires no boom suspension system because of its stiff structure. The system is simple and integrated into the crane.

Thomas Schramm, general manager of sales and marketing, sees enormous competitive advantage for renters of the new eight-axle crane.

“Elimination of additional transport for the boom suspension system, increased rental times due to time saved in rigging, as well as a significantly smaller tail swing radius for use in tight construction sites all contribute to the efficiency of this new crane,” he said.
